Over a hundred runners attended the inaugural “Pumpkin Run” departing from the West Sacramento Recreation Center on Saturday morning. The 5- and 10-kilometer races were a fundraiser for the new Aquatics Foundation of West Sacramento.

The event was created by race director David Trussell and foundation director Ross Yancher. The race course included the Clarksburg Branch Line Trail, and kids participated in a 2K “candy burner run” around the River City High school campus in honor of the impending Halloween holiday.

Participants received an orange commemorative Halloween T-shirt, and the race logo was designed by West Sacramento’s Joshua Whiting. Sponsors included Dave’s Pumpkin Patch and RoCo Wine Spirits.

Race results will be posted on www.madcowsracing.org, said organizer Ross Yancher.
