NEWS-LEDGER – SEPT. 7, 2011 -
A 37-year old West Sacramento man was killed while standing next to his disabled vehicle on I-80 in Vacaville early Sunday morning.
According to reports in the Vacaville Reporter and Dixon Patch, Gary Hanks (a 1992 graduate of River City High) was killed at about 2 a.m.
Other traffic began to slow.
But “a minute or two later,” another suspected drunk driver ran over the body and hit Lee’s car head-on.
That car was driven by Michael Hackbart, a 27-year old from American Canyon. The collision injured Lee and Hackbart’s passenger.
Lee was treated for his injuries and booked into jail on charges of murder and felony DUI, said the Reporter. Hackbart was booked for felony DUI. His passenger sustained serious injuries.
