The City of West Sacramento is starting up a new round of training for those who want to know better how to help themselves, their families and their neighbors in the event of an emergency. Topics include Disaster Awareness, Light Search & Rescue, Terrorism and more. Citizens who pass the training course become CERTs (Community Emergency Response Team members) qualified to help the community in times of emergency. Training is free and is held on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 6-10 p.m. on various dates starting Nov. 8, with a final exercise and review on Sat., Nov. 19 from 8-5. Applications may be picked up at fire station 45, 2040 Lake Washington Blvd. in Southport.
