NEWS-LEDGER — NOV 16, 2011 –

River City High’s varsity football team made it to the playoffs for the second year in a row – but was eliminated in the first round on Friday evening in Elk Grove.

The Raiders compiled a 5-5 record on the regular season, which, although a few wins shy of last year’s attention-getting season, earned them a playoff berth. The Raiders drew the Elk Grove “Thundering Herd” in the first round – a squad that went undefeated in 2011 and would have the advantage of defending their home field.
