An open house is planned to inform the public of progress on alternative strategies for improving the Southport river levees. The event will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at the city hall galleria, 1110 West Capitol Avenue. If you submit your questions in advance to email@example.com, the staff of the West Sacramento Flood Control Agency will try to bring you some answers at the workshop.
Local flood control officials are looking to redesign some levees, sometimes moving them inland away from the eroding riverbanks. Plans may impact some landowners along the river.
For questions about the event, call city flood protection manager Michael Bessette, 617-4655.
