Crime victims and other interested parties can now sign up to be informed when a criminal offender is released – and can have around-the-clock access to offender information by telephone or Internet.
Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto’s office reports that the users can go to www.vinelink.com or call 1-877-411-5588 to find out if an offender is in custody (after providing the individual’s name or booking number).
Users can also register phone numbers or email addresses so they can be automatically notified if that offender is released or transferred, or if he or she escapes.
The VINE services is provided by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
