GARY FREDERICKSEN, new chief for Wintun fire station in western Yolo

FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER — JAN 12, 2012 –

Gary Fredericksen has been named the chief of the Yocha Dehe Fire Department in western Yolo County. The department is operated by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, which runs the Cache Creek Casino Resort next door to the fire department. It has about 35 employees.

Fredericksen, 49,  was until this month a division chief for the West Sacramento Fire Department. He’s a lifelong West Sacramento resident.

“Gary Fredericksen is professionally well-rounded, (with) more than 25 years of line, administrative and leadership experience in fire and emergency services,” said a press statement from the Wintun Nation. “Plus, he understands the unique challenges of fire and emergency services in our region.”

Fredericksen takes over from former chief Michael Chandler, who is retiring.
