NEWS-LEDGER ONLINE — MARCH 16, 2012 –

Yesterday evening, two vehicles were in a car chase and gunfight in West Sacramento. A bystander on the property of Trinity Presbyterian Church was injured with a gunshot wound to the face.

The News-Ledger’s Daryl Fisher saw the two suspect vehicles turn north on Park Boulevard from Stone (possibly coming from Jeffers0n Blvd.) and reports they chased each other at high speed onto Deerwood.

Shortly after, he saw them speed back southbound on Park, and turn right on Stone toward Harbor Boulevard, with police in pursuit.

Following is the West Sacramento Police Department press release about the incident:

“On 3-15-12 at approximately 1857 hours the West Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of Westacre Road and Park Avenue for reports of shots fired.  Officers arrived on scene and located an uninvolved victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the face.  The victim a male in his 40’s was transported and is in serious but stable condition at a local hospital.

“Numerous witnesses reported that two vehicle were seen in the area chasing each other and firing several shots.  The first vehicle was described as white lowered pickup (possibly a Nissan) with silver rims.  The second vehicle was described as a dark grey SUV similar to a Dodge Durango.  The suspects were described as African American males believed to be in their 20’s.

” The West Sacramento Police Department is requesting the assistance of the public from anyone who witnessed this incident or may have information.  Those with information can contact West Sacramento Police Department Dispatch at 916-375-6474 or Detective Eric Palmer at 916-617-4935.”

  1. The chase actually came down 15th Street (right in front of our house) from Jefferson and then proceeded over Park and through the other side. The first shots were fired as they approached the church.
