New for 2012 is a beer garden by ‘Swabbie’s On the River.’ Returning this year is the market’s low-trash ethic

You won’t have to wait much longer.
After a successful inaugural season last year, the West Sacramento Farmers Market opens up again on tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. The market will continue Thursday evenings until dusk through mid-September, at 1271 West Capitol Avenue (across from city hall).
The market is organized by the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce.
Is anything special planned for opening day?
“There will be a band brought by Swabbie’s catering truck, and a beer garden set up by Swabbie’s,” said Lun So, director of marketing and communications for the chamber. The restaurant and its catering truck are famous for their seafood tacos.
“We’ll try to have entertainment every week,” he added. “Swabbie’s will be out there the third Thursday of every month.”
“We’ll have a full market pad,” So said.. Aside from regional growers of produce, meats and baked goods, the market will have a bunch of ready-to-eat food on hand:
“We’ll have Wicked West Pizza & BBQ, the Eatery, Gold Rush Popcorn, and Addy’s Paella,” said So. A couple of other restaurants may be there as well.
Like last year, the market will aim for zero-waste – with eating utensils and other supplies either recyclable or compostable.
