Attendance Thursday at the first farmers market of the seasonwas good, reports Meaghan Perelli of the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce, the market’s sponsor.

“We probably had about 800 people through the course of the night — just as many as opening day last year,” she told the News-Ledger.

The market continues on Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to dusk at 1271 West Capitol. This week’s market will not feature live entertainment, but will bring some more produce — and shortcake.

“We’re expecting more farmers this week,” said Perelli. “Rhythm & Blueberries will be there. They’re a blueberry grower, and they didn’t have enough crop last week. Feather River Farms will be coming back. The Eatery, a local restaurant, will be joining us this week. I believe they will do some kind of shortcake dessert.”
