Arrest for lighting cat on fire

The West Sacramento Police Department has just announced that it has arrested a 17-year old local boy for “felony cruelty to animals,” after a cat was set on fire on May 2.

The police not identify the juvenile.

  Witness saw a “ball of fire” moving near Circle Park in West Sacramento the night of May 2 — and it turned out that someone had used an accelerant to set a friendly local stray cat on fire. The cat was taken to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment, but was euthanized.

“A detective from the West Sacramento police was assigned the case and was able to establish leads which led to the arrest this morning,” said Lt. Tod Sockman of the West Sacramento Police Department in a press release today.
