WEST SACRAMENTO NEWS-LEDGER ONLINE — AUG 5, 2012 –
A police chase resulted in a patrol car striking and killing a pedestrian in West Sacramento last night.
According to a press release from Lieutenant Tod Sockman of the West Sacramento Police Department:
“On September 04, 2012 at approximately 8:30 PM an officer was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. Another officer activated his emergency lights and siren to respond and assist. While en route to assist, that officer struck a pedestrian near West Capitol Avenue and Pine Street who was walking in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.”
A spokesman for the Yolo County Coroner’s office told the News-Ledger this morning that the victim has been identified. But the victim’s name has not yet been released because next of kin have not yet been notified.
