NEWS-LEDGER ONLINE — NOV 30, 2012 –

Art Schroeder, spokesman for the City of West Sacramento, reports the following list of storm-related problems around the city as of about 12:30 p.m. With more rain and wind on the way, no doubt there will be even more issues as the weekend progresses:

·         An early morning vehicle collision causing one fatality at the intersection of Lake Washington Boulevard and Southport Parkway damaged the traffic light at the intersection—the repair is expected to be completed by late Friday morning;

·         A light signal at Lighthouse Drive and Fountain Drive was damaged Thursday evening and is scheduled for repair today, with minimal impact on traffic flow;

·         Significant flooding on Deerwood Avenue caused by plugged storm drains early Friday morning has been rectified;

·         Reports of minor flooding in the “state” streets, Riverpoint and Broderick areas have been receiving attention from City crews;

·         Prior to Friday’s storm, the City cleaned piping and debris from storm drain stations in the areas of Allen Road, Gregory Road, and other areas; and

·         A sand bag distribution center is available to West Sacramento residents at the City Public Works Corp Yard, 1951 South River Rd. during daytime hours.

   “As the City continues to keep its eye on storm emergencies this weekend, the public is advised to stay safe and to drive carefully. Be prepared for signs of caution,” said Schroeder in a press statement.
