NEWS-LEDGER ONLINE — APRIL 26, 2013 –

The West Sacramento Police Department will take part in the “National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day” tomorrow (Saturday, April 27).

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. you can drop off your expired or unwanted prescription medications at the police department, 550 Jefferson Blvd. in West Sacramento. (From Jefferson Blvd., go west on Triangle and turn left into the police parking lot).

The service is anonymous and free. Staff will accept your drop-offs and will see that the drugs are safely disposed of.

“Since most people who abuse prescription drugs say that they get them from family members or friends, it is imperative that we all take steps to dispose of unwanted drugs,” said U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner in a press release.

The national “take-back” day includes a number of California locations. For other drop-off spots, go to www.dea.gov and click on “Got Drugs?”
