West Sacramento firefighters responded Monday night to a fire in the attic of a commercial building on the 300-block of 6th Street — home to West Side Motorcycle and a convenience market.

“There was damage to the entire attic space,” Battalion Chief Mike Taylor told the News-Ledger. “The roofing is damaged and the entire ceiling is damaged, but it was just confined to the attic.”

Coverage — four engines and a ladder truck from the local department, plus an engine from Sacramento — was not affected by the same evening’s “Santa Run,” in which a fire truck gives Santa Claus a ride through West Sacramento neighborhoods. The Santa Run is staffed by off-duty firefighters using a reserve vehicle, Taylor told the News-Ledger.
