Results from Jefferson Blvd. DUI checkpoint
NEWS-LEDGER – SEPT. 7, 2011 –
The News-Ledger has obtained the results of a “DUI checkpoint” staged by the West Sacramento Police Department on Saturday, Aug. 27, as part of a statewide crackdown on drunk drivers through the Labor Day holiday travel period.
The checkpoint ran from 7:30 p.m. to midnight on the 3200-block of Jefferson Boulevard in Southport, reports Lieutenant Tod Sockman of the W.S.P.D.
[adrotate group=”7″]Although there were no drunk driving arrests, six people were cited for unlicensed driving.
The police department announced in advance that there would be a DUI checkpoint that night somewhere in the city, but did not announce its location. The policy is meant to deter drinking and driving.
