River Cats’ championship hunt is over

[adrotate group=”7″]     The Sacramento River Cats made it all the way to the championship series. But then they were swept in three games by the Omaha Storm Chasers, who earned a Pacific Coast League Championship.
Omaha cemented the championship with an 11-6 victory on Sept. 17 at Raley Field.
The River Cats were seeking their fifth championship in the Triple-A baseball league, but Omaha achieved its first.
Omaha right-handed pitcher Luis Mendoza earned “most valuable playoff” honors, with a 2-0 record and 1.29 ERA in the playoffs.
