Four point loss for RCHS — but headed for playoffs
FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER — NOV 9, 2011 —
On Friday, River City High School played its final football game of the regular season at home against the Union Mine Diamondbacks.
Both the junior varsity and varsity games were very close, with Union Mine edging out River City J.V. by two points and edging out the River City varsity by 4.
The Raider junior varsity team was down early in the game by 14 points and fought their way back to tie the game up at the half. However, Union Mine would eventually go on to score a few more touchdowns and win the game by a final score of 36-34.
Scoring for River City were Bo Alvarez, who had 2 TD’s, one for 17 yards and another for 14 yards. Aaron Tyson had a 2 yard TD run and a 31 yard TD run, while Jamal Williams ran for a 95 yard TD. The JV Team ended the season with an overall record of 6-4.
But Union Mine prevailed 24-20.
Uriah Clark finished the season with 1,054 yards rushing for the Raiders, and 13 touchdowns.
The varsity team finished the season with an overall record of 5-5.
The Raiders have secured a spot in the playoffs and will travel to Elk Grove on Fridayto face Elk Grove, which went 10-0 in its regular season season.
