Court restores tobacco tax money
FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER —
First 5 Yolo – a local agency funded with tobacco tax money – believes it is on track to distribute $2.5 million in additional money to Yolo organizations that support kids up to age five and their families over the next three years.
The money was held up after the passage of state legislation that attempted to shift the revenue to the state in order to help balance California’s budget. But a court decision blocked the assembly bill.
The state has until March 19 to decide whether to appeal, said a First 5 Yolo spokesperson.
