Everyone is invited to join the fun when Yolo County celebrities “strut their stuff” Thursday night, March 29th at the West Sacramento City Hall Galleria. Tickets for the Yolo County Children’s Alliance and Child Abuse Prevention Council annual celebrity fund raiser are $45 each and the proceeds will go to support the work of YCCA, including our child abuse prevention programs.
The 3rd Annual Yolo County “Celebrity Fashion Show” will feature many Yolo County elected officials, business community leaders while showcasing local boutiques and clothiers. In past years, more than 200 government, community and business leaders have attended the popular event. Of special note this year, Scott Moak, “Voice of the Sacramento Kings” will be the emcee, and special appearances are planned by the River Cats’ “Dinger,”; the Kings’ “Slamson,” and West Sacramento’s own “Mooie!”
Critical YCCA and child abuse prevention programs supported through this annual fund raiser include counseling support to pregnant women and families with newborns, Baby Steps, home visits through the Step-by-Step / Paso a Paso program; free food distribution of fresh produce, the Community Health Initiative, and Foster Parent Recruitment. We also distribute free clothing, diapers, shoes and jackets to keep children adequately dressed and warm.
We live in stressful times, and stress, combined with substance abuse, often leads to a dangerous home environment for children. We remind everyone who has the opportunity to influence the life of a child, that “It Only Takes a Minute” to have a positive effect on a child by showing him/her that you care and that they are important to you.
Celebrity Fashion Show tickets are available online at www.yolokids.org or by calling the Yolo County Children’s Alliance and Child Abuse Prevention Council at 530-757-5558.

The River City High School Interact Club is a community service club sponsored by the two Rotary clubs of West Sacramento. This club has been successful since its inception three years ago. Each year the students must complete two community service projects and one International project.
This year the students will have been involved in at least nine community service projects.
The club must earn money for their international project. This year, Forever Yours Flowers on Merkley Avenue kindly donated carnations to the RCHS Interact Club to sell for Valentine’s Day. Christine Maltez, chairperson for this event, said this fundraiser was, “fantastic.” The students had fun delivering the carnations to students and staff at RCHS.
