Girls basketball squad loses OT thriller after season that went deep into the playoffs —

The River City High School girls basketball team traveled to Chico last Wednesday to face the Pleasant Valley Vikings in the CIF Nor Cal first round playoffs.

The Lady Raiders lost but not without some excitement for the fans. River City was down by three in the fourth quarter, and, with 0.3 seconds left on the clock, The Raiders’ Katie King hit a 3-pointer to tie the ball game and send it into overtime.

The overtime period ended with Pleasant Valley on top, 47-44.. The Lady raiders finished the season with 27 wins and four losses, , tied with El Dorado for the SVC Division title. They earned a #2 rank in Division 2 Sectionals and were ranked fifth in California Division 2 standings.

It was the best girls basketball season in school history. The team is coached by Jamie King.
