Police looking for felony suspect
NEWS-LEDGER ONLINE — MARCH 21, 2012 —
West Sacramento police today are looking for a felony suspect.. The man led them on a chase — which was called off for public safety when the suspect’s pickup went the wrong way on I-80. Then he left the freeway and struck another vehicle. Then the driver “bailed” near Harbor and Glide.
Here’s the police department press release from earlier today:
“On 3-21-12 at approximately 0746 hours the West Sacramento Police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on White Ford F150 for a vehicle code violation. The vehicle failed to stop for the police and a short pursuit ensued. The pursuit which lasted approximately one minute was called off for public safety when the suspect vehicle began traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Interstate 80.
“A short time after the pursuit was called off the suspect vehicle exited the freeway and lost control striking another vehicle at the intersection of Harbor Blvd and West Capitol Avenue. There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.
[adrotate group=”10”] “The passenger in the vehicle Christina Rangel 30 years old was taken into custody for several felony charges. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot and was last seen in the 700 block of Glide Avenue. An extensive search was conducted and the driver was not located.
“The driver has been positively identified as 34 year old Lino Garcia Jr. He is currently wanted by the West Sacramento Police Department for several felony charges including Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Evading Police. Mr. Garcia also has a Felony Warrant for his arrest out of Napa County.
“Mr. Garcia was described as a Hispanic male, 5-5, 200 lbs with a shaved head and was wearing all black clothing. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact West Sacramento Police Department Dispatch at 916-375-6474.”
