Pedestrian killed by police car
WEST SACRAMENTO NEWS-LEDGER ONLINE — AUG 5, 2012 —
A police chase resulted in a patrol car striking and killing a pedestrian in West Sacramento last night.
According to a press release from Lieutenant Tod Sockman of the West Sacramento Police Department:
“On September 04, 2012 at approximately 8:30 PM an officer was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. Another officer activated his emergency lights and siren to respond and assist. While en route to assist, that officer struck a pedestrian near West Capitol Avenue and Pine Street who was walking in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.”
[adrotate group=”9″]”California Highway Patrol investigated the fatal accident,” Sockman continued. “The suspect in the pursuit, a 17 year old male juvenile from West Sacramento, collided with a parked vehicle near the 1900 block of Maryland Avenue and fled on foot. He was detained by a citizen until officers arrived on scene and arrested him. The driver of the stolen vehicle will be booked at the Yolo County Juvenile Hall on felony stolen vehicle charges and murder resulting from the death of the pedestrian.”
