Boat parade Sunday on the river
FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER ONLINE — MAY 1, 2013 —
The Sacramento Yacht Club has announced that its annual “opening day” boat parade will be held Sunday, May 5, on the Sacramento River. Best viewing spots include the Old Sacramento waterfront and the River Walk Park in West Sacramento (near the ziggurat building and Tower Bridge).
The yacht club is headquartered on South River Road in Southport, West Sacramento.
[adrotate group=”9″] The parade starts at the club after a noon “blessing of the fleet.” Boats will then proceed up river under the Tower Bridge and past Old Sacramento. They will turn around at the Virgin Sturgeon restaurant and return to the club.
Boats will be specially decorated for the event and will vie for club prizes. This year’s parade has a “Cinco de Mayo” theme.
Boaters wishing to participate may call (916) 371-5058.
