Memorial for fallen Yolo officers
FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER NEWSPAPER —
A new peace officers memorial at the old courthouse building, 725 Court Street in Woodland, will honor all those officers who fell in the line of duty while working for law enforcement agencies in Yolo County, including the sheriff’s department and West Sacramento Police Department.
West Sacramento has lost one officer, James McKnight, for whom the local police station is named. McKnight was shot while working with the Yolo Narcotics Enforcement Team, serving a search warrant in Esparto in 1990.
The memorial will be dedicated in a public ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 11.
Funds were raised by the Yolo County Retired Peace Officers.
