Drowned boater ID’d by coroner

A man drowned after falling off his boat into the Sacramento River on April 28.

West Sacramento firefighters received a call that the victim fell overboard at about 3:48 p.m. He had apparently been trying to tie his boat up to a downed tree limb when he fell into the water.

The man was not wearing a life jacket, according to the West Sacramento Fire Department.

Agencies joining the search included the Clarksburg Fire Department, Yolo County Sheriff, a CalStar helicopter, C.H.P. and DART (Diving Accident Rescue Team.)

After an “exhaustive” rescue attempt, reports the W.S.F.D, searchers went into “recovery mode.”

The body was eventually found at about 7 p.m. near South River Road and Babel Slough Road.

Mark Persons of the Yolo County Coroner’s Division told the News-Ledger that the victim was later identified as 55-year old Joua Kao Lor of Sacramento. The cause of death was determined to be drowning.
