West Sacramento officials announced today that a Japanese company plans to build a 25,000-square foot production facility and U.S. headquarters in the Southport Business Park in West Sacramento.
The identity of the company will be announced at a press conference tomorrow, with representatives from the Sacramento Area Commerce & Trade Organization (SACTO) and Ridge Capital in attendance to welcome managers from the company.
Ridge Capital manages the business park; SACTO is given credit for helping to recruit the company.
Southport Business Park is located along Ramco Boulevard just south of the barge canal.
City spokesman Art Schroeder said the new company is a good fit with Mayor Christopher Cabaldon’s effort to develop the city as a “global food hub.” Other food-related facilities in West Sacramento include planned or new developments by Japan’s Nippon Shokken, Norway’s Tomra Sorting Solutions, and Germany’s Bayer CropScience. They join Tony’s Fine Foods, Nor Cal Beverage and the Raley’s headquarters.
