Driver killed in West Sacramento accident

A 63-year old man from Mountain View was killed this morning in a single-vehicle accident in West Sacramento. Reported Lieutenant Tod Sockman of the West Sacramento Police Department:

“Today, November 30, 2013, at approximately 10:50 a.m, officers responded to eastbound Tower Bridge Gateway and the Railroad overcrossing (near 5th Street) for an accident with injuries.  Officers arrived to find a single vehicle into the overpass pillar. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle.  West Sacramento Fire Department had to use cutting and prying tools to remove the driver.”

The driver was taken by ambulance to the UC Davis Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.  The investigation of the accident is in its early stages, said Sockman in a press release.

“The driver’s identity is being withheld until family members can be notified,” he added.
