Mayor bullish at ‘State of the City’ 2014

FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER — MAY 28, 2014 —

MAYOR CHRISTOPHER CABALDON was the keynote speaker at Wednesday’s annual ‘State of the City’ dinner held at city hall. Cabaldon didn’t announce any major new initiatives at the event, which was sponsored by the local chamber of commerce and featured a catered dinner for paying guests.

The mayor did express his continued bullishness on the city, including its plans to create a new urban waterfront and continue its work to become a food industry hub.

Chamber installs new officers; Kristoff to get ‘lifetime achievement’ award

The West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce will install a new board of directors at its annual installation dinner, held this year at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow (Jan. 16)  in the civic center galleria.

Marty Swingle of Capital West Realty is the 2014 chairman of the board of directors.

At the dinner, the Chamber will also honor several people and companies.

“Business of the Year”: The Burton Law Firm.

“West Saramentan Lifetime Achievement Award”: Bill Kristoff (a city council member).

“Volunteer of the Year”: Chris Jarosz, Broderick Roadhouse.

“Ambassador of the Year”: Michael Brady, CSQHA Architects.

Tree lighting & visit from Santa soon

The annual West Sacramento Tree Lighting is on the schedule for 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30 in front of city hall, 1110 West Capitol Avenue.

Kids can get a picture with Santa at this popular event between 6:30-8 p.m. Entertainment will include the River City High School Choir, West Sacramento Community Singers and Russian Baptist Church Dawn Choir. The event is free, hosted by the City and the Chamber of Commerce. There will be refreshments. “Mooie’s After Party” will follow, across the street at the community center. City, chamber knock on business doors

FROM THE WEST SACRAMENTO NEWS-LEDGER —

Reps from the City of West Sacramento and the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce will be knocking on business doors from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 4 for the “Business Walk. They’ll look for comments from businesspeople about the state of business in West Sacramento, as a means of finding ways to improve the local business climate.
