Raider girls beat El Dorado, take record to 19-1

NEWS-LEDGER ONLINE —
The Raider girls basketball team met league rival El Dorado last night at the RCHS gym. Entering the game, both were undefeated in league play.
The Raiders earned a 41-32 victory, going to 5-0 in league play and taking their record to 19-1 overall. More in Wednesday’s News-Ledger.

FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER — JAN 18, 2012 —

On Friday, the River City High School Boys Basketball faced the Union Mine Diamondbacks.

The River City freshman and JV teams won, while varsity dropped to Union Mine. The Raider Freshman won 50-37.

In the JV Game, RC was losing late in the game and with some 3 point plays, a steal and some good pressing defense, River City went ahead and held on to a 55-50 win. The RCHS JV high scorer was Richard Dasilva  with 20 points.

The Raider varsity team lost by a final of 63-47. RCHS varsity high scorers were Jose Chacon with 23 points and Malik Dumetz with 10. The boys will be home again Tuesday, January 24, against Vista del Lago.

The varsity is 7-11 overall.

RCHS: help ‘pack the house’ Friday

FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER — JAN 18, 2012 —

On Jan. 11, River City High School girls basketball faced the Liberty Ranch Hawks.

The RCHS freshman team fell to the Hawks by a score of 31-28, while the JV and Varsity teams were both victorious.

The Raider Junior varsity beat the Hawks 51-29, and the RCHS varsity won 62-29. The Raiders’ varsity record improved to 18-1 overall and they remain at the top of their conference.

The Raiders host El Dorado High on Friday night at RCHS. Each team is 4-0 in league play, and the River City athletic department has called on the West Sacramento community to help fill the gym with fans to cheer on the Raiders at the match. Varsity game time is 7:30 p.m., and there will be a special ticket price of $2.

Wins keep Raiders on top of SVC

NEWS-LEDGER — JAN 11, 2012 —

On Jan. 6, the Raider girls basketball squad played host to Galt Warriors.

The freshman team again had the night off. The JV and varsity teams both dominated Galt and won by convincing margins.

The River City junior varsity squad won, 71-17. Leading scorers for the Raider JVs were Makaila Robinson with 13 and Jershaun Hollie with 12

The prior week, the Raider varsity prevailed 70-25. Leading scorers for RCHS varsity were Katie King with 14 and Isabella Gomez with 11.

On Wednesday, January 4, the RCHS  faced theCosumnes Oaks Wolfpack.

River City’s freshman team did not play; however, JV and varsity teams played and were both victorious.

Final Scores: JV Game 48-19 (W) Varsity Game 65-39 (W) With the varsity team win on Jan. 6, they  improved their overall record to 15-1, and were the leader in both the SVC division and section.

River City High School’s volleyball celebrated its team awards in November after the end of their season. Honorees were:

Varsity and Sierra Valley Conference (SVC) Awards
Most Inspirational Player – Junior, Jaliyah Dramera
Most Valuable Player and SVC All League – Sophomore, Brianna Mondia

SVC Honorable Mention – Junior, Kendra Thomas
SVC Honorable Mention – Junior, Desiree J. Carbullido

Dixon gets best of RC boys

 FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER — DEC 28, 2011 —

On Dec. 20, the River City High School boys basketball teams faced Dixon Rams.

Dixon pretty much controlled the freshman and varsity games, while the JV game was tighter. In the junior varsity match, River City was down, and came back to take the lead with just a few seconds left. Dixon answered at the buzzer to win the game

Final scores for the Dixon victories were:  Freshman 65-36; JV 44-45; varsity 71-60. The Raider varsity is now 5-5 overall.

River City’s boys teams will be back home again on January 13  when they will face Union Mine.

River City girls basketball takes its 11-1 record into the Lincoln Tournament today. The squad plays at home next on Jan. 6, hosting Galt with a varsity game time of 7:30 p.m. at the RCHS gym.

Lady Raiders defeat Monterey Trails

 FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER — DEC 21, 2011 —

On December 13, the River City High School girls basketball team hosted Monterey Trails. Only j.v. and varsity squads played, so the RCHS freshmen had the night off. Both RCHS Teams were victorious. The final score in the junior varsity game was 55-30 in favor of the Raiders, and the RCHS varsity won 61-45. Raider girls basketball will be back home again on January 4, 2012 when the team hosts Woodland.
