Nominate a ‘Woman of Character’

The Yolo County Women’s History Month committee invites nominations for Yolo County women to be honored at the group’s March 6 luncheon. Nominees must have a track record of contributing to their community along the theme of “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment.”

Individuals and organizations may nominate an honoree. To receive a nomination form, email kfmawdsley@ucdavis.edu or download one at www.ycwhm.org. To receive a copy by mail, leave a message with your name and address, including ZIP, at (530) 758-5093. Nominations are due by Jan. 24.

Food bank gives away food on Tuesday

FROM THE NEWS-LEDGER — JAN 15, 2014 —

The Yolo Food Bank will distribute free food items to eligible West Sacramento and Clarksburg residents on Tuesday, January 21. Visit the county building at 500 Jefferson Blvd. from 9-10 a.m.; Trinity Presbyterian Church at 1500 Park Blvd., between 10:30-11:15 a.m.; Yolo Housing Authority at 685 Lighthouse Drive, between 11 a.m. and noon; or the Clarksburg Firehouse, noon to 1 p.m.

Coroner ID’s man killed on freeway as 25-year old from Davis

NEWS-LEDGER ONLINE — JAN 8, 2014 —

The Yolo County Coroner’s office has identified the pedestrian killed on a West Sacramento freeway early morning as 25-year old Bryson Rush Labourdette, of Davis.

The coroner’s report still lists the cause and manner of death both as “pending,” but states that Labourdette apparently left his disabled car and “attempted to cross over highway on foot, and was struck by multiple vehicles.”

The accident occurred at about 6 a.m. Monday on westbound I-80, just before the Yolo Causeway.
